Things you need to know about the world’s fittest man

Mat Fraser is an American Professional CrossFit athlete. He was born in 1990. He is the son of Canadian olympic figure skaters Don Fraser & Candace Jones who were professional skaters, having paired on Canada’s figure skating team at the 1976 Olympics. .

He is known for winning the 2016 and 2017 CrossFit Games and taking 1st Runner up place at the 2014 and 2015 CrossFit Games. He is the East Regional Champion for consecutive 3 times (2015,2016,2017).In 2014 he won North East Regional Championship.

He earned $794,049 in competition purses in four seasons. That puts him $248,505 behind the current all-time earnings leader, Rich Froning ($1.04 million). He made $285,000 for winning the 2017 Games.

This is really hard to believe but the World Fittest Man On the Earth was with a broken back. He suffered four months in trapped injury. This thing happened a month before the junior world championships when Fraser was just 19 years old. He finished the competition at 15th in Romania. When he returned home, an the x-ray report revealed two breaks in his L5 vertebra.

In Fraser’s opinion, the hardest part of the Games is its intensity. Though he trains for roughly six hours a day, he estimates that, if he were fresh, he could do some of the final events 20 percent faster (which shows how gruelling the competition is). To prepare accordingly, he often trains with Katrin Davidsdottir, the 2015 and 2016 Fittest Woman on Earth. “A lot of times, we’ll do the same workouts,” he says, “and she’ll tell me her time or her score. Then, for me, it’s very similar to competing next to someone. I’m going into the workout knowing, okay, I have to be sub four minutes.”
